Developing an Acne Diet 101

An acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. After all, who has not heard the saying that chocolate gives you pimples? We almost all have. As a result, it doesn’t really sound that strange that you are what you eat.

However, an acne diet can be hard to create for a large number of people. Being based on your body’s responses to certain foods makes it very personal. There are guidelines, but each individual’s progress will mostly be trial and error. Monitor your skin closely. Keep a journal. You could keep a photo journal. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.

Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Eat more protein - Some dermatologists even believe that protein intake is connected to having clear skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin seems to be extremely prone to breakouts.

* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - You don’t have to completely cut carbs out. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. Actually, though, junk food is just high in carbs.

* Consume green tea - If you can, drink real green tea. The best type of green tea is the kind that you brew. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea limits androgen production. Breakouts have been known to be caused by a hormone called androgen.

* You must restrict the amount of salt you take in - Iodine is almost always located within salt. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” For some with acne, iodine an cause major inflammation.

You must always be careful of what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These are least likely to cause a breakout. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. By using mineral makeup you may actually ease acne problems and increase the results of your acne diet.
